Stage: Seed Stage, gearing up for Series A Raise

Revenue: $1M/year

As CEO, you'll be the architect of our success, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Your strategic vision and operational expertise will be instrumental in propelling the company forward. Develop and execute dynamic go-to-market strategies to reach new customers and expand into new markets. We'll also leverage your fundraising prowess to fuel these growth initiatives.

As you step into this role, our founder will transition to focus on technology and product development. Their extensive technical and industry experience will remain in the company and committed to this next phase of growth.

In this CEO role, you'll take the reins on our multi-faceted growth strategy. You'll oversee and manage expansion across various segments, including Federal, Commercial, Publishing/Non-Profit, and Partnerships.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution: 

  • Serve as the main contact for the board, shareholders, employees, customers, government, and the public including actionable short-term and long-term goals, plans, and policies. Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives

  • Inspire the entire company by setting a compelling strategic direction.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for measuring success. 

Go-To-Market Strategy and Execution: 

  • Player/coach role with hands on sales activity and experience

  • Set vision for go-to-market approach and build a world class sales organization.

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor landscape, and customer needs. 

  • Assess potential market opportunities and risks, providing insights to guide decision-making and mitigation plans.

Operational and Financial Performance: 

  • Review operational results against strategic goals, implementing necessary actions to rectify underperformance.

  • Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to inform decision-making and track the effectiveness of growth initiatives. 

  • Implement systems for monitoring and reporting on key growth metrics. 

  • Collaborate with departments such as sales, marketing, product development, and finance to ensure alignment with growth objectives and upselling strategies. 

  • Implement pricing strategies and revenue models to maximize profitability. 

  • Lead in mergers, acquisitions, or strategic alliances negotiations.

  • Stay informed about industry regulations and changes that may impact business expansion. 

Opportunity Identification: 

  • Identify and tackle challenges head-on, turning them into opportunities for advancement.

  • Work closely with product development teams to identify and capitalize on opportunities for innovation. 

  • Drive the creation of new products or features that align with market demands. 

Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership experience in a senior executive role, ideally with a strong background in fundraising within a growth-phase environment.PE or M&A experience is also advantageous.

  • Demonstrated success in leading through vision, cultivating a culture aligned with the company’s mission, and building a high-performance team environment.

  • Experience in growing companies from $1 - $2 million to $10 million in revenue. 

  • Player/Coach mindset. Hands-on experience in sales and willingness to contribute day to day in building pipelines until the sales process is scalable and repeatable for growth. 
  • Collaborate closely with the Founder and our team. To ensure we're all working towards the same vision, we value regular in-person interaction with the Founder. However, we understand flexibility is important, so some meetings can be arranged at a mutually convenient location whether in Wisconsin or near you.

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, industry trends, and customer behavior. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at the executive level. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial management, including understanding profit & loss, budgeting, and cash flow management.

  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational development, goal setting, and effective communication with all levels of stakeholders.

  • Expertise in nurturing relationships with the board, customers, CTO, employees, aligning them with personal growth and an ambitious organizational vision.

  • Brings an understanding of highly regulated industries and the associated challenges in growing those organizations.

  • Knowledgeable or able to quickly adapt to corporate governance standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • This role offers a competitive compensation package that includes a performance-based bonus tied to revenue generation and equity participation.
